Trip to Auckland War Memorial Museum

For inquiry, we learned about volcanoes, what type of volcanoes they have and the different size/shape of the volcano. We went to the museum to finish our topic on volcanoes and learn more interesting things we don’t know. Our challenge in the volcano room was that we had 30 seconds to decide what to pack if there was a volcanic eruption near us. We were put into a group of boys and girls and on the table, there was a backpack, toys, can of food, hole punch, torch, can opener, pan, gloves, cat, muesli bar, cat food, goggles, bottle of water, tea towel, first aid kit, mask and a coloring book. Our group was in a rush, but we were using our thinking skills wisely. In our backpack we took everything but the can opener, mask and a coloring book. One group took everything, and the other group took everything except for the cat. During the museum we headed into the World War 2 and during that time we had to be absolutely respectful and quiet in that area. One interesting fact when we walked around in the galleries was when we walked into World War 2 and that there is a specific book opened but locked inside a box that shares the diary that the solders had written about what is going on. They flip the page every single day leading to a different solider diary.
