Year: 2024

LI: To plan and carry out a statisitcal investigation.

Our group created a bar graph which shows the amount of blogs we have published throughout the year. We used our skills to find out the data from our blog. We put these blogs in order from most to least. The most month that I have posted was April and the least was January. We then talked about what is means, median and mode.

I enjoyed this task because it shows me how much work I have done and how much blog post I have posted.

Place Value

LI: To explore numbers (written, expanded, numerals).

For maths we are learning about place value and in this DLO we are showing our understanding and what Place value is. As you can see, in each column there are millions, hundred thousands, ten thousand, thousand, hundred, tens, and ones in each box. Underneath it shows examples about what it looks like.

I enjoyed this task because it helps me understand what a place value is and where it belongs.

Statistical Investigation

LI: To read the text, gather sort, graph and analyse the data.

Our maths group created a bar graph which shows all of the students’ cultures. We used our skills to find out the data of where their grandparents are from, from LS2. We put these cultures in order from most to least. The most culture in our classroom was New Zealand and the least was Tuvalu and Thailand.

I enjoyed this activity because it tells me more about our classroom cultures.

Treaty of Waitangi

LI: To explore the world in 1840 and the art of the Treaty

Our task was to look at what the world was like in 1840. Did you know that a treaty is an agreement between two or more countries? After this we identified some of the key people and their role in the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. I found it interesting that Henry Williams had one night to translate the words in the draft Treaty of Waitangi into Māori. We then made a google slide explaining about the CARE Values (Confidence, Attitude, Respect, and Excellence) in the Treaty of Waitangi.

I found this activity really enjoyable because it helps me understand more about the Treaty of Waitangi and their values.

Panmure Bridge School Collage

This task was to make a DLO of Panmure Bridge School. I collected some photos from throughout the past years and turned them into collages of memories. I got these photos when we did market day and more. We experience life in Panmure Bridge School, learning new things and having fun. Students have been exploring strong connections with others and also positive attitudes.

I enjoy this activity because it helps me show people things or facts about Panmure Bridge School.

Care Values

LI: To understand what our CARE Values mean to us.

This week we discussed what Panmure Bridge Schools C.A.R.E. values are. We looked at what the values look like for us. This DLO is showing how we see Confidence, Attitude, Respect and Excellence. An example of this is participating in each task. It is important to follow these because these are our school values.

I found this activity fun because it helps me remember what our school values are so we can use these values to others.

Sound Focus

For this task we learnt about sound focus. Some words that I learnt were (ea) from “Steak”. We made a DLO explaining what the vowels are, how it is pronounced, and letters that sound the same as steak (ea and ay). The main letters in the vowels are a,e,i,o,u. These letters are most used or spelled in sound focus. Long vowels say their name and short vowels say their sound. The Sound focus is to help people to know their vowels.

I enjoyed learning how to pronounce “ea” and new sounds in sound focus.

Abstract Noun Poem – Courage

LI: To use metaphors and senses to describe the noun by painting a picture with your words.

Our task was to write a poem about an abstract noun using the 5 sences, known as: Ofactory (smell), Gustatory (taste), Visual (see) tactile (touch) and auditory (hear). One of the noun my partner picked was courage, meaning being hold to strive forward. In each line/paragraph we described what we thought the abstract noun would look, smell, feel, hear and taste like. We then used wordhippo to change our words into more powerful and make our poem more developed.

I found this task fun because I get to enjoy writing poems about different things to learn more.

Moment in Time poem Maungarei

LI: To write a poem that describes a moment in time.

Our task was to create a poem about when we walked up the Maungarei (Mt Wellingtion). We were challenged to write each line, based on one of the 5 sences known as: Ofactory (smell), Gustatory (taste), Visual (see) tactile (touch) and auditory (hear).

I found this activity fun because I got to write about our trip to Maungarei.

Moment in Time poem Polar Bear

LI : To write a poem about a moment in time.

My task was to write a poem about a video of a polar bear. We were challenged to watch a video of a polar bear attempting to attack a man, and imagine we were him. First we wrote down some words and used wordhippo to change some of the words to level up our writing. Then we wrote lines based off of some of the 5 sences known as: Ofactory (smell), Gustatory (taste), Visual (see) tactile (touch) and auditory (hear).

I found this task fun because I got to find new words to level up my writing in work.
