Anywords

This week I learnedd about anywords.

First I got a partners to play anywords. How to play anywords is that the players has to write words vertically or horizontally. One letter per square

Next me and my partner started writing words per turn. When it makes sense with the word the player gets to have a point.

Lastly me and my partner tryed finishing the whole square to make sense.

Hedgehogs

This week I learned about hedgehogs.

First I talked facts about hedgehogs. Me and my group read a story about hedgehogs. For example : What does hedgehogs likes to eat? Hedgehogs mostly eat pests and small animals.

Next I had to answer some questions about hedgehogs. For example : What could you leave out if you want a hedgehog to visit your garden? The answer is that I will leave pests such as slugs and caterpillars.

Lastly I had to create a DLO and make a fact sheet about hedgehogs and put in some questions and answer them by yourself. For example : why does hedgehogs have spikes on their back.

I enjoyed learning about hedgehogs. I did well on answering the questions. I need to improve on adding more questions on the DLO.

Inferring

This week I learned about inferring

First Miss White was reading a book and showed us what to do. She wrote down I can see So I can infer on a piece of paper. For example : She has written down a sentence that was part of the book and explanied what it is or what they are doing.

Next I went on a document that is called I can see… So I can infer… I had to read a book and write down a sentence that is part or simaliar to the text in the book.

Lastly I read a book called The Drama. I had to write down what I can see… So I can infer. For example : Can you tell me where you shelve your… translated japanese graphic novels. I can Infer that she is at the libary.

SSR Selfie

I read 14 pages of a book called smile.

First I read the book for 10 minutes.

Next I wrote what happened in the book. The main charaters we’re family, friends, boys, and raina.

Then I listed three new words. Which were headgear – I think headgear means embarrassing headache. Retainer – I think retainer means a brace bracket. Surgery – I think surgery means like people has a sore stomach.

After I wrote who was the author, and I took a photo of the book.

I enjoyed reading this book. I did well on listing 3 words I don’t know. I need to improve on learning more about the book.

Inferring

This week I learned about inferring.

First I read a book called The Kakangora. I had to write down what I can see… So I can infer. For example : I can see people climbing on the tree. So I can infer they are finding a type of nut. That is the example for I can see so I can infer.

Next Miss White explained to us key into inference 2 where. I had to write the answer down for the question. For example : the bell rang and the children ran inside. Where is this happening?  At school. That is the answer for the first question because the bell rang and the children ran inside. I thought they went inside of class but it was at school.

What Synthesising is?

I learned what synthesisng is?

First I made a DLO explaning what synthesising is? Synthesising is to like make a idea about stuff. For example Penguins.

Next I had to write down my prior Knowledge about penguins. Prior knowledge mean what you already know about penguins. For example: Penguins can’t fly, and penguins are great at swimming.

Lastly I to wrote down my 2 different type of synthesising. Which are new information, and my new understanding.

New Information: Penguins are also known for their white and black feathers, penguins are also known for their waddle, penguins do have special skills that kind of look like they are swimming, and penguins flaps their wings to swim and underwater it looks like they are flying.

My new understanding: Penguins can swim 75 percent underwater, and penguins can eat food underwater.

I enjoyed doing this task. I did well on explaning about what synthesising is. I need to improve on saying more words about what synthesising is.

Animal testing

I learned about what animal testing is?

First we talked about animal testing and what animal testing is?

Next we wrote down why we should not do testing on animals? I choose that they should not get tested because they might get sick and might die.

Lastly we went on a google slide and it was about animal testing. It tells about animal testing.

I enjoyed doing this task. I did well on writing down. I need to improve on explaining more about animal testing.

Summarising

This week we learned about summarising a book.

First we read a book called Rahi and the Patupaiarehe. It talks about a league and heroes.

Next we looked for 20 keywords in the book and pasting it into a document called summarising template.

Lastly we talked about the book and finding summarising words.

I enjoyed doing reading. I did well on finding keywords. I need to improve on finding more summarising words.

Reorganisation

This week I learned about Reorganisation. Reorganisation means the action or process of changing the in which something is organize.

First I went on a slide called reorganisation. There was questions on the slide and we did a practise on the mat. We had to get in groups of 2. We got a whiteborad and 2 whiteboard pen to write down the answer which was on the slide.

Next I did individual work. For the task we had to complete the following. I was reading the story that was for individual work and looking for the answer and looking for keywords in the story.

Then I had to look for keywords in the story. We had to answer the question that was on the slide. Some of the question that was on the slide was what gift did Todd got from his grandparents, which was a football jersey.

After I had to look or think carefully about the story and answer. For example: these are what your looking for in the story and in any book. (they, these, it,them, he, she, it, this, his, and here)

Lastly I did the last answer which was how old is Gareth now? What does Gareth say it takes to be a top swimmer?How many hours a week does Gareth spend training at the pool? In what month was this article written? In what way is Gareth regarded as a true champion?
