Bar Graph

This week for Maths I learned about how to create a Bar Graph using results from a tally chart & to use PPDAC (Problem, Plan, Data, Analysis, and Conclusion/Communication) cycle to do a class investigation.

First I had to talk in a group about statistics? Statistics is to collect and do data to draw conclusions. For example : How do you get to school? The answer will be car, walk, bus, or bike. Lots of people get to school with cars.

Next I had to think about in the group what does PPDAC, it stands for Problem (Main Question), Plan (What are you measuring, who are you getting data from, questions), Data (collect data from target audience), Analyse (sort data, draw up graph, what do you notice?), Conclusion (final interpretation, new question?).

Afterwards I had to answer all of the class questions. The question was what’s your favourite colour?, How many people live in your house?, What month is your birthday?, Can you ride a bike?. For how many people live in your house, the answer is 10 because 10 people live in my house.

Lastly I had to draw/make 4 tally charts and 4 bar graphs using the data collected by the class question. I also had to write down 5 “I notice” statements.

I enjoyed learning about bar graphs. I did well at making a bar graph on a google meet. I need to improve on adding more questions or details to it.

Contrast & Comparing

This week for reading I learned about Comparing & Contrast & to be able to compare and contrast two or three ideas.

Comparing is to notice the similarities and differences between two things. Contrast is a type of state of being someone else or close.

First I had to talk in a group about comparing & contrasting. Comparing is to notice the similarities and differences between two things. For example : The dirty water has buildings around it but the clean water doesn’t.

Next I had to look at two of the rivers that I have to talk about for comparing & contrasting. Each of the rivers were clean & dirty. For example : The dirty water has plastic bottles in it.

Then I had to write down the title of what I’m gonna talk about. For example : My title will be clean water & dirty water.

Lastly I had to write down the similarities & differences about the river. For example : This river is so badly polluted no living things would be able to survive. People can not use this river for recreational activities and the entire ecosystem surrounding this river has completely broken down.

I enjoyed learning more about comparing. I did well at writing down the differences. I need to improve on adding more details.

SSR Selfie

This week I learned about SSR Selfie.

SSR stands for Sustanied Silent Reading. Sustained silent reading is where students read silently read in school and out of school.

First I had to choose a book and had to read the book for 10 minutes. For example  : I picked a book called goosebumps and I decieded to read it for 10 minutes.

Next I had to write down the main characters that were in the book that you talked about. The main characters were Sonny, Slappy, Sarah, Mum, and Dad.

Then I had to write down the illustrations of the person who wrote the story in words. For example : the illustrations is Rob Lieber.

Lastly I had to list 3 new words I don’t know in my own meanings. For example : I picked dangerous and said “Dangerous is something bad that happened often”.

I enjoyed doing this task. I did well at listing 3 words in my own meanings. I need to improve on writing something down basic.

Rhyme

This week for Writing I learned about Perfect Rhyme and Rhyme.

Perfect Rhyme is a form of rhyme between two words or phrases. Rhyme is a type of sound between words or the endings of the words, especially when these are used at the ends of the lines using poetry.

First we had to talk about what is Rhyme and what is Perfect Rhyme. Rhyme is a type of sound between words or the endings of the words, especially when these are used at the ends of the lines using poetry. For example : Spring Bling, cat, hat, and herd, bird.

Next we had to come up with the, ing, at, ed, and rd. One of ing, at, ed, and rd is, Ing – Spring, at – hat, ed – shed, & rd – heard. For example : I would say ling for ing.

After Miss White showed us an example for ing. She said, There once was a king. It had a big ring. They all started to sing. And other words like that.

Lastly Miss White told us to make a Poem using rhyme or perfect rhyme. I said for my poem ” There once was a Bling. That had a good Sling. It made everyone Spring. They play outside with a Thing.

I enjoyed learning about Rhyme & Perfect Rhyme. I did well at using ing for the poem. I need to improve on using ed next time.

Duffy Needs Space

This week we went to visit Duffy to learn about space.

Duffy is someone that gives out books, helps you learn more about them, and gives you some fun. For example : He makes a program for you to watch.

Space is a type of area that is outside of Earth. For example :  an area that is empty or available.

First we went to the assembly hall to meet up with Duffy & his actors that are playing about  “Duffy needs space”. 2 of his actors’ nicknames are, Stuffy (Duffy’s cousins) and Maddi (Duffy’s mom).

Next Duffy & his actors told the 3 rules while watching them do their program. One is when they say sh by doing the actors they need to be quiet, sit on your bottoms, and not yell out. For example : if you like to stand up or stand on your knees the people behind can’t see.

Then Duffy & his actors became Aliens except for Duffy. Both of the Alien names were, Stuff Diz, and Duff Ziv. The funniest one was when Stuffy started to be silly and be funny.

Lastly when the program ended we started to say goodbye but the fun part is where we get to have our Duffy books to take home and read about. For example : There was a book that said your class name on it and it has books inside it. I got “Making Friends” & “Guts’ ‘.

I enjoyed watching Duffy ‘s space. I did well at sitting on my bottoms so the others behind me could see. I need to improve on answering one of the actors’ questions.

Basic Facts Boxes

Today in week 10 I learned about Basic Facts Boxes and I did Basic Facts Boxes.

Basic Number Facts is basically the same as Basic Facts Boxes. For example : 0 + 0 to 9 + 9 for addition and their subtractive opposites, and 0 x 0 to 9 x 9 for multiplication.

First I had to go on a worksheet (that records the data) that shows Basic Facts Boxes. For example : it shows the subject.

Next I had to go and choose one of the subjects I wanted to start off with. For example : x, +, -, and divisions. I picked the multiplication because it looks and feels like a good reason to start off with.

Then I had to pick if I wanted the multiplication to be in order (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,1o) or in randoms (2,5,8,10,3,4). I picked an order because I love to be in order. I’ll try and do random things in the next basic facts boxes next week.

Lastly I had to click onto check (checks all of your answers if it’s right) to see the answer is right. For example : 1+1 = 2 and the answer turned green.

I enjoyed doing this task. I did well at getting them all right. I need to improve on doing hard mode instead of easy mode.
